Thirdway Alliance Party leader Dr. Ekuru Aukot has expressed concern that the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) is on the brink of collapse following the death of its leader, Raila Odinga.
Speaking on Citizen TV on Thursday, Aukot said Raila’s passing has left a political vacuum that may trigger internal wrangles within the opposition party.
“Without Raila, I see disintegration in ODM. There’s a lot of hypocrisy from some of the party leaders who had vowed never to cooperate with President Ruto, but are now changing their tone for political survival,” Aukot said.
He described Raila as a stabilizing figure who gave the country a sense of unity beyond ethnic and regional boundaries.
According to Aukot, Kenya is now facing a moral and political crisis as tribal interests continue to dominate national discourse.
“Kenya is lacking a father figure who sees the entire country as his family,” he remarked. “Our politics has become about regions and tribes, not about nationhood. We remain a country of tribes, not a Nation.”
Aukot’s remarks come amid renewed debate over ODM’s future direction and leadership after Raila’s burial. He cautioned that without genuine reform and honest leadership, the party risks losing its national character.
