Deputy Inspector General of the Kenya Police Service (KPS), Eliud Lagat, made an unannounced visit to Rongai Police Station and Kibiko Police Post in Kajiado County on October 6, 2025, to assess officer welfare and operational readiness.
The visit aligns with ongoing efforts to improve police infrastructure and service delivery across the country.
Lagat was welcomed by Kajiado County Police Commander Alex Shikondi, County Administration Police Commander Hadija Sharif, County Criminal Investigations Officer Margaret Abae, and Rongai’s Officer Commanding Station Dan Mwangi.
The DIG inspected key facilities, including the Report Office, Gender and Children’s Office, cells, Anti-Crime Unit, DCI Offices, Traffic Office, and Police Lines.
During discussions with officers, Lagat listened to concerns about welfare and operational challenges.
He praised their professionalism, high morale, and well-maintained facilities, assuring them that their issues would be addressed.
He emphasized the Inspector General’s commitment to enhancing officer welfare and transforming police stations into centers of excellence for public service.
Lagat highlighted plans to gazette additional police stations to boost service efficiency. He also raised concerns about security in the Bangladesh area of Rongai, calling for increased surveillance and coordination.
Additionally, he urged officers, particularly in the Traffic Department, to uphold integrity and rebuild public trust through transparent and effective traffic management.
Accompanying Lagat were senior officials, including Director of Logistics Peter Ndung’u, Director of Operations Adamson Bungei, Director of Gender and Child Protection Dolly Badia, and Silas Andiema from the Directorate of Personnel.
