Embakasi East MP Babu Owino has thanked residents of Migori County for the warm reception he received during the burial of former minister Dalmas Otieno on Thursday.
In a message shared on his Facebook page, the youthful legislator said the hospitality and affection shown to him during the ceremony left a lasting impression.
He described the welcome as a reminder that leadership is about people, not titles.
“You reminded me that despite the noise, despite the judgment of others, I still have a place in the hearts of many,” Babu wrote. “Every handshake, every smile, every cheer, I felt it all.”
The MP, who has been vocal on national issues, said he does not take such support for granted, adding that the experience renewed his confidence that his voice continues to resonate with Kenyans.
He also thanked God for what he termed as unmerited favor and the strength to keep serving.
Dalmas Otieno, a former Cabinet minister who held various influential positions in government, was laid to rest at his home in Rongo, Migori County.
The burial brought together a host of national and local leaders who paid glowing tribute to his decades of service in politics and public administration.
Babu Owino, who joined mourners at the ceremony, said the reception in Migori reinforced his conviction that love and unity should always triumph over division.
“Migori, you reminded me that I still belong, that my voice still matters, and that love will always rise above hate,” he said.
The legislator, who has been steadily building a national profile, expressed his gratitude to Migori residents for what he termed an unforgettable show of solidarity.
