Babu Owino Hails Dalmas Otieno as Mentor and Guide to Young Politicians

Embakasi East MP Babu Owino has remembered the late Dalmas Otieno not only as a national leader but also as a mentor who inspired younger generations of politicians.

In a tribute shared on Facebook during the burial in Migori County on Thursday, Owino described the former minister as a principled statesman whose influence went beyond his years in government.

“Hon. Dalmas Otieno was not just a man of titles, he was a man of purpose,” Owino wrote. “His service to this nation, and particularly to the people of Rongo Constituency and Migori County, will never be forgotten.”

Owino noted that Otieno’s humility, courage, and dedication to justice set an example for leaders coming after him.

He credited the late politician with showing how public service should be anchored in integrity and a people-first approach.

Otieno, who served in different ministerial positions across several administrations, was widely respected for his role in shaping national policy and championing development in Migori.

His political journey, which spanned decades, also earned him recognition across the political divide.

Babu Owino emphasized that Otieno’s legacy was not only in the projects he initiated but also in the values he instilled in leaders who worked alongside him.

“He was a leader, a patriot, a father, and a friend,” Owino added. “His contribution to Kenya’s democratic journey will remain a guide for those of us still in the arena.”

The burial brought together leaders from across the country who echoed similar sentiments, describing Otieno as a rare voice of reason in Kenya’s often divisive politics.
