Isiolo’s political ground is already heating up after a new survey by Mizani Africa placed Senator Fatuma Dullo in the lead against Governor Abdi Guyo in the race for the county’s top seat.
According to the poll, Dullo commands 38.7 percent support among residents, while Guyo trails with 30.8 percent.
What stands out from the findings, however, is the governor’s low performance rating, with only 37.5 percent of respondents approving of his leadership.
The figures suggest growing dissatisfaction among voters, with many pointing to gaps in governance and service delivery.
For Guyo, who is barely halfway through his term, the numbers present a significant challenge as he seeks to consolidate support ahead of the 2027 elections.
Mizani Africa described the contest as one that pits continuity against change. Dullo, who has served as Isiolo’s senator since 2017, appears to be emerging as the face of alternative leadership.
Her strong showing in the poll reflects her ability to tap into residents’ frustrations and present herself as a credible option to unseat the incumbent.
Isiolo remains one of the counties battling tough development questions, from infrastructure and healthcare to equitable resource allocation.
Analysts say whichever candidate convinces voters that they have realistic solutions to these issues will have the upper hand when campaigns officially begin.
For now, Dullo’s early lead is a signal that the governor will have to double his efforts to win back public trust.
The poll paints a picture of a county keen on accountability, where voters are already weighing whether to stick with the current leadership or shift to a new path.
The road to 2027, it seems, has already begun in Isiolo.
