“I Told You”: Uhuru Hits Back at Ruto Allies as Political Tensions Escalate

Former President Uhuru Kenyatta has intensified his criticism of the Kenya Kwanza administration, warning voters against disregarding his past advice while accusing the current leadership of failing to address pressing national concerns.

In a sharp response to sustained attacks from government officials, Kenyatta told Kenyans that the issues facing the country today were foreseeable, suggesting that his earlier counsel during the transition period should not have been ignored.

His remarks signal a deepening political rift between him and his successor, President William Ruto.

Kenyatta, who has largely maintained a low public profile since leaving office, has now adopted a more confrontational tone.

He has challenged the government to focus on resolving key economic challenges, particularly the rising cost of living, which continues to strain households across the country.

“All I can say is, I told you,” Kenyatta reportedly stated, in what observers interpret as a direct rebuke to both the administration and sections of the electorate that backed it.

Allies of the former president argue that the renewed criticism is a response to what they describe as persistent attempts by government leaders to blame the previous administration for current economic difficulties.

According to them, Kenyatta is pushing back against what he sees as diversionary tactics aimed at shifting public attention.

They maintain that instead of engaging in political blame games, the government should take responsibility and implement policies that ease the burden on citizens.

The high cost of essential commodities, fuel prices, and taxation have remained central concerns among Kenyans in recent months.

The escalation also signals a broader political realignment, with the Jubilee Party, formerly led by Kenyatta, positioning itself more assertively in opposition to the ruling coalition.

On the other hand, leaders within the Kenya Kwanza alliance have continued to defend the administration’s record, insisting that inherited challenges require time to resolve.

They accuse Kenyatta of attempting to undermine the government instead of supporting national stability.

As the political exchanges intensify, Kenyans remain caught between competing narratives, with growing pressure on leaders to deliver tangible solutions to the country’s economic challenges.
