Marriage counsellors often say forgiveness is not a single event but a process. While many couples attempt to rebuild after betrayal, the emotional scars can linger long after apologies are made. For some, the real battle begins after choosing to stay.

That is the situation shared by Facebook influencer Javan Karanja, who reposted a confession from a distressed husband struggling to cope after discovering his wife had an affair with her boss.

According to the man, he chose to forgive his wife after learning about the relationship. He described himself as a “good man” who wanted to save his marriage.

However, despite the forgiveness, he admits that painful thoughts continue to haunt him.

“My wife cheated on me with her boss and as a good man I forgave her, but sometimes I look at her and start having very bad thoughts,” he confessed.

The husband confessed that at times he looks at his wife and is overwhelmed by anger and intrusive thoughts.

He claimed there are moments he deliberately disappoints her or ignores her, even in front of guests. Other times, he says he pinches her while she is asleep.

“Sometimes I ignore her even mbele ya wageni, other times I disappoint her intentionally. I don’t know why I do it,” he admitted.

He further revealed that the betrayal has affected his behaviour while driving. He stated that whenever the memory of the affair crosses his mind, he finds himself overspeeding without reason, prompting his wife to question his intentions.

“I can be driving normally, then I remember what happened and I start overspeeding for no reason until she asks what I’m thinking,” he said.

Beyond anger, the man admitted to struggling with self-doubt. He said he sometimes feels inadequate and questions whether he is “good enough” for his wife.

The fact that the alleged affair involved her boss has deepened his insecurities, especially whenever she is out at work.

“Sometimes I feel like I’m not good enough for her or I don’t perform well. I no longer trust her when she’s out there with the boss,” he added.

“I love my wife,” he reportedly stated, but added that the thought of another man being intimate with her continues to torment him.
