Residents of a quiet village in Kakamega were left shaken after one family publicly claimed they were living under a curse.


For months, strange misfortunes had followed the Wekesa family. First, their maize crop failed despite good rains. 


Then their dairy cow fell ill and died unexpectedly. Weeks later, their eldest son was involved in a minor road accident while riding a motorbike.


“It felt like one problem after another,” says 52 year old Peter Wekesa. “We started asking ourselves hard questions.”


Whispers began spreading through the village.
