Maurice Ogeta, who served as the personal bodyguard to the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, has been appointed Advisor on Security Affairs in the Mombasa County Government.
The announcement was made by Mombasa Governor Abdulswamad Nassir following the creation of new positions by the Mombasa County Public Service Board.
Governor Nassir praised Ogeta’s extensive experience in security, citing his service to Raila Odinga and his knowledge of local, regional, and international security matters.
“This appointment reflects his many years of expertise and deep institutional knowledge,” the governor said, noting that Ogeta’s skills will strengthen security management in the county.
In the same statement, Governor Nassir also appointed Ken Ambani as Advisor on Creative Arts, highlighting the county’s focus on reviving the local creative sector.
Ambani’s experience in the arts is expected to create opportunities for youth and artists while boosting Mombasa’s cultural economy.
The appointments mark a strategic effort by the county government to combine professional expertise with targeted leadership in key sectors.
Ogeta’s transition from safeguarding a national leader to holding a senior county role demonstrates the value placed on experienced personnel within Mombasa’s governance framework.
These appointments come as part of Governor Nassir’s broader agenda to strengthen county administration while promoting growth in both security and creative industries.
