Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi has intervened to help a promising student from Outspan Village, Ngeria Ward, secure a place at Samoei Boys High School after financial challenges threatened to derail his education.
In a post on X, Sudi shared the story of John Ndungu, a bright boy whose dreams of joining Samoei High were halted because his mother, Mary Wanjiru, struggled to provide for her family.
Wanjiru is raising John and his 11-year-old sister, who has cerebral palsy, by washing clothes to put food on the table.
The financial strain left her unable to meet the costs associated with secondary education, forcing John to miss out on the opportunity.
Sudi expressed how deeply the story resonated with him, noting the emotional toll it had on Wanjiru.
“The pain of watching her kids suffer was overwhelming for her,” he wrote, emphasizing the resilience of parents battling hardship while trying to secure a future for their children.
Through Sudi’s support, John can now attend Samoei Boys High School and pursue his academic ambitions.
The MP described the gesture as a “small win, but a start,” highlighting the importance of community support in uplifting vulnerable families.
While John’s journey is just beginning, the support ensures he will no longer be held back by circumstances beyond his control, giving hope to other students in similar situations across Kapseret Subcounty.
