Kileleshwa Ward MCA Robert Alai has hit back at Embakasi East MP Babu Owino following allegations that he threatened the MP with a gun on Saturday.
Alai insisted that neither his wife nor his children are involved in politics or public disputes.
The drama reportedly unfolded at a Nairobi social event, where Owino claimed Alai confronted him while allegedly brandishing a firearm.
The allegation sparked a flurry of social media debate and calls for police intervention.
Speaking on Monday during an interview with a local media station, Alai dismissed any threat to the MP and stressed the separation between his public life and family.
“These people, especially my children and wife, are not political players. They’re not in the, they don’t even have social media accounts. They’re not political players in this,” he said.
“I am fair game, you can target me if I’ve opened myself up to public scrutiny,” he said. “But when it comes to family members…” He made clear that any threats or attacks directed at his relatives are unacceptable.
The ongoing feud between Alai and Owino has drawn significant attention on social media, with supporters from both sides exchanging accusations.
Alai’s statements aim to de-escalate the personal dimension of the conflict while signaling his readiness to face criticism personally.
Authorities have not confirmed any formal investigation into the alleged gun incident, but the matter remains under close observation.
