Former Azimio chief agent Saitabao Ole Kanchory has openly accused President William Ruto of failing to honor a political agreement with KANU chairman Gideon Moi, following reports that the pact brokered late last year may have collapsed.

According to a Daily Nation report, the truce included key concessions for KANU.

These reportedly involved the appointment of loyalists as principal secretaries and ambassadors, the settlement of Sh3 billion owed to companies linked to the Moi family, and Mr. Moi’s withdrawal from the Baringo senatorial by-election, giving Ruto’s UDA candidate a walkover.

Despite the agreement, political sources say promised appointments have not been made, and unease is growing within KANU.

State House has remained silent on the matter, raising questions about whether the pact ever fully materialized or has already fallen apart.

Saitabao was scathing in his response.

“He didn’t keep his word with Mama Mboga, didn’t keep his word with boda boda, didn’t keep his word with the hustlers, didn’t keep his word with Mt. Kenya, hasn’t kept his word with Gideon… a guy lies for a living but some fools want us to believe he’ll keep his word with ODM,” he said. He added,

“Now I understand why foolishness, unlike intelligence, is immeasurable because this is stupidity without measure.”

Political analysts say the situation highlights rising tensions between Ruto and regional allies who expected tangible benefits from the alliance.

With the Baringo pact reportedly on shaky ground, KANU’s role in the broader government remains uncertain, fueling speculation about the durability of political arrangements ahead of the next general elections.
