Social media activist Francis Gaitho has issued a caution to Kenyans over emerging content trends on TikTok, urging users to be vigilant when former President Uhuru Kenyatta’s name is mentioned.

Gaitho revealed that some influencers are allegedly being paid by government-linked entities to drop Uhuru’s name casually in unrelated videos.

He warned that this tactic is designed to subtly influence viewers and spread propaganda.

“Whenever you hear ‘Uhuru’ mentioned in a TikTok video, swipe away immediately or block the creator. Do not engage or share such content,” Gaitho said.

He emphasized that participating in these trends could unintentionally amplify messages intended to manipulate public opinion.

The activist urged TikTok users to exercise caution, verifying content sources before reacting or sharing. He also encouraged reporting suspicious videos to curb the spread of misinformation.

Gaitho’s warning comes amid rising concerns over digital content manipulation in Kenya, highlighting the need for social media literacy and critical engagement with online platforms.

The vocal social media activist advised Kenyans to remain alert and discerning while navigating social media spaces.
