Jacaranda Bunge la Wananchi members were all smiles on Friday when Oketch Salah showed up with a swag of gifts and promises for early next year.
During his visit to the Jacaranda Grounds, Salah met with the civic forum to discuss ways of boosting their leadership and impact in the community.
But it was his big-ticket goodies that stole the show.
Salah unveiled an empowerment drive that will see ten members—five men and five women—benefit from direct support.
Five lucky youths are set to get motorcycles to kick-start income-generating ventures, while women’s groups will receive hairdressing equipment plus KSh50,000 in start-up cash.
And if that wasn’t enough, Salah capped the visit with a KSh1 million gift hamper, handed exclusively to members present at the meeting.
“This is to show appreciation for your commitment to community development,” he said.
The Jacaranda Bunge la Wananchi, known for mobilising residents around social and governance issues, will now see some of its members boosted with resources to translate their ideas into action.
With motorcycles for the youths, tools for women, and a million-shilling hamper on the table, Salah’s visit was a reminder that community engagement can come with some very real perks.
