Former Gender and Culture Cabinet Secretary Aisha Jumwa is grieving the loss of her mother, Sidi Karisa, who passed away on Sunday after a short illness.

The emotional announcement was made through Jumwa’s social media accounts, where she shared her pain and asked for prayers.

In her message, Jumwa described her late mother as the backbone of their family, saying she was a woman whose life was marked by love, kindness, dignity, and a strong moral character.

She noted that Sidi Karisa not only shaped the family but also touched many people with her warmth and compassion.

The sad news quickly spread online, triggering an outpouring of condolences from politicians, supporters, and ordinary Kenyans, especially from the Coast region where Jumwa remains a well-known political figure.

Many praised the late Sidi Karisa as a respected matriarch and sent messages of comfort to the former Malindi MP during what she described as a deeply painful moment.

Jumwa said her mother’s presence in the family was priceless and that her memory will continue to live on in their hearts.

She added that the family will later announce burial and funeral arrangements once consultations are complete.

As the family mourns, Kenyans continue to send prayers and messages of solidarity to Jumwa and her loved ones as they come to terms with the heartbreaking loss.
