Uganda’s President Yoweri Museveni has addressed his recent meeting with Kenya’s Prime Cabinet Secretary, Musalia Mudavadi, posting a statement on his X handle on Thursday night.
The Ugandan leader confirmed that the discussions focused on matters concerning both countries and the wider East African region.
“I welcome him,” Museveni tweeted, signaling the importance of ongoing dialogue between the two nations. The engagement included senior officials from Mudavadi’s team and covered topics ranging from bilateral trade and security coordination to broader regional integration within the East African Community (EAC).
Mudavadi’s office emphasized that Kenya remains committed to the EAC’s vision of a politically united, economically prosperous, and secure East Africa.
The visit underscored efforts by President William Ruto and President Museveni to maintain constructive collaboration for the benefit of citizens on both sides of the border.
Kenya and Uganda have a long history of economic, political, and cultural ties, with their partnership anchored on cross-border trade, infrastructure development, and regional diplomacy.
The Mayuge talks also reflect Kenya’s proactive regional diplomacy, particularly as East African countries navigate shared challenges including trade facilitation, security threats, and harmonization of regional policies.
By engaging directly with Museveni, Mudavadi reinforced Kenya’s commitment to translating diplomatic relations into tangible outcomes for communities.
