Kenya’s Director of Criminal Investigations, Mohamed Amin, has been elected as Africa’s delegate to the INTERPOL Executive Committee, reinforcing the country’s position in international security governance.

The appointment was lauded by Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, who described it as a milestone for Kenya’s law enforcement reputation.

Amin’s victory came after a competitive process involving multiple candidates from African states, highlighting the confidence regional partners place in Kenya’s policing standards.

The INTERPOL Executive Committee plays a critical role in overseeing the General Secretariat and ensuring implementation of decisions by the General Assembly, positioning Amin to influence key global policing policies.

Mudavadi commended the dedication of Kenyan officers and institutions that contributed to this achievement, singling out Inspector General Douglas Kanja for his leadership.

“This appointment reflects the world’s recognition of Kenya’s professionalism, integrity, and commitment to collective security,” he stated, emphasizing the wider significance for Africa.

The new role enables Kenya to shape discussions on international law enforcement, crime prevention, and regional security cooperation.

Kenya’s growing influence in global policing is part of a broader trend of African countries seeking stronger roles in international security networks.

Amin’s election demonstrates that Kenyan expertise in law enforcement is increasingly valued on the world stage, with potential benefits for regional cooperation and national security initiatives.

Prime CS Mudavadi expressed hope that Amin’s appointment would open further opportunities for Kenya and the continent, stressing that consistent excellence by Kenyan officers elevates the country’s profile in global forums.
