Former Public Service Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria has extended an olive branch to former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua while urging him to show restraint in his criticism of Mt Kenya leaders and women.

In a message posted on X, Kuria acknowledged Gachagua’s growing influence in the Mt Kenya region, saying he has become the most listened-to political voice and is on course to become the area’s uncontested kingpin.

However, Kuria cautioned that such leadership comes with the responsibility to lead with respect.

“To my brother Rigathi Gachagua, I am an honest man. By now you know that. It is an undeniable fact that the majority of our Mt Kenya people listen to you. Kindly refrain from insulting our leaders in general, our women leaders in particular, and all Mt Kenya women by extension," the former CS stated.

Kuria said he admires Gachagua’s political rise and hinted at a possible partnership, comparing it to the cooperation between Gideon Moi and William Ruto in the Rift Valley.

“In fact, just like Gideon Moi and William Ruto are working together, I might consider working with you very soon,” he added.

The former CS’s statement appeared to strike a balance between endorsement and warning, reflecting the shifting alliances taking shape within Mt Kenya politics.

His appeal comes at a time when the region’s leaders are repositioning themselves amid divisions following the fallout between Gachagua and President William Ruto’s allies.

Kuria’s tone suggested that while he recognizes Gachagua’s political strength, he believes mutual respect and unity will determine the region’s future leadership.
