Head of Presidential Special Projects and the Creative Economy Denis Itumbi has mourned the death of one of his staff members, Sammy Kiprop, describing him as a focused and disciplined communications officer whose career was steadily on the rise.
In a statement, Itumbi said Kiprop stood out for his commitment to work, noting that he had completed his Master’s degree and was pursuing a PhD while maintaining a strong professional track record.
He revealed that Kiprop had recently been confirmed as Principal Communication Officer in his office, a position he earned through what he termed as consistent dedication and reliability.
Itumbi added that the late officer had recently shared a communications plan he was preparing to implement, which reflected his attention to detail and strategic thinking.
“Just recently, he had shared a thoughtful and strategic communications plan and was preparing to roll it out with the same excellence he brought to everything he did,” he said.
Itumbi further stated that Kiprop passed away last night, a development he described as painful and unexpected.
He extended condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of the deceased, saying they were now left searching for answers during a difficult period.
Quoting author Gabriel García Márquez, Itumbi said, “No one is dead until they are forgotten,” adding that Kiprop’s memory would remain alive among those who worked closely with him.
He described Kiprop as a humble and courteous colleague who maintained respect in his interactions with others, referring to him as a “younger brother” within the office.
“Sammy, my younger brother, we will not forget you,” he said, noting that the loss had deeply affected him and the entire team.
The cause of death has not been disclosed.
