Nandi Senator Kiprotich Cherargei has sent a heartfelt condolence message following the tragic death of Emurua Dikirr MP Johana Ngeno, who perished in a helicopter crash at Chepkiep in Mosop Constituency, Nandi County.

In his message, Cherargei conveyed his sympathy to the bereaved families and the nation at large, describing the incident as a devastating loss to the people of Emurua Dikirr and Kenya.

“My deepest condolences to the family, friends, the people of Emurua Dikirr Constituency and Kenyans following the tragic loss of Hon. Johana Ngeno alongside five other Kenyans after a fatal helicopter crash,” he said.

The senator described the late legislator as a fearless defender of vulnerable communities, particularly on matters of land rights.

He also credited Ngeno with supporting Kalenjin musicians and artists and promoting unity among communities in the region.

Cherargei further highlighted Ngeno’s national legislative contributions, noting his leadership role as chairperson of the National Assembly’s Housing Committee.

He said the MP played a key role in advancing the government’s ongoing affordable housing programme.

“He was instrumental in the current revolutionary affordable housing programme and served as a dependable support system to many,” Cherargei stated.

Ngeno served three consecutive terms in the National Assembly representing Emurua Dikirr Constituency in Narok County. During his tenure, he built a reputation as a people-centred and seasoned legislator committed to grassroots development and public service.

Cherargei appealed to Kenyans attending Sunday church services to remember the victims and their families in prayer.

“I appeal to Kenyans going to church today to keep the families of Hon. Ngeno and his colleagues in prayer,” he said, concluding with a prayer for eternal rest for the departed.

Authorities have launched investigations into the cause of the crash as leaders across the country continue to mourn the fallen MP and his team.
