The 2025 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) results are out, with 1,932 candidates attaining the top grade of A and 270,000 students meeting the threshold for direct university entry.
The official announcement later took place at AIC Chebisas High School, bringing to an end weeks of anticipation for candidates and their families.
Data released by the Ministry of Education shows that 993,000 candidates sat for the national examinations.
Girls accounted for half of the candidature, maintaining gender balance in one of the country’s most critical education assessments.

Beyond the top performers, the C+ benchmark emerged as a key indicator of transition to higher education.
The 270,000 candidates who attained C+ and above are now eligible for placement in universities through the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS), which is expected to open its application portal in the coming weeks.
The results also highlighted the growing impact of public day secondary schools.
A total of 72,000 candidates from day schools scored grades that qualify them for university admission, reinforcing arguments that strong outcomes are increasingly coming from non-boarding institutions.
Candidates have been advised to access their results through official platforms as the ministry prepares to issue further guidance on university and college placement.
