" “Loneliness Is Not a Gift" Geoffrey Mosiria Advocates Early Marriage Among Youth

Nairobi County Chief Officer for Citizen Engagement and Customer Service, Geoffrey Mosiria, has called on young Kenyans to view marriage as more than a personal milestone, suggesting it can offer practical and financial benefits.

Speaking on social media, Mosiria encouraged singles to act proactively in finding partners and highlighted the role marriage can play in improving one’s circumstances.

Mosiria’s remarks followed the President’s previous guidance advising young people to marry by age 25.

The official added a unique perspective, noting that early marriage could “start your star shining immediately” by introducing additional blessings into one’s life.

He further emphasized that marriage should be seen as a source of opportunity rather than a burden, offering his office’s support for formal matchmaking services.

Highlighting the practical advantages of marriage, Mosiria stated, “Don’t complain that you are poor and single at the same time. Marriage attracts favor. God adds wealth to feed the extra mouth He has brought into your life.”

He encouraged young people to approach relationships with intent and seriousness, offering structured support rather than leaving matters to chance.

Mosiria also addressed the social challenges of singleness, pointing out that loneliness is not a spiritual gift.

He invited interested Kenyans to utilize his office’s services, framing official matchmaking as a solution-oriented approach for those seeking life partners.

His statements arrive in the context of changing marriage trends in Kenya, where rising education levels, urbanization, and economic pressures have contributed to delayed marriages among the youth.
