Winnie Odinga, daughter of veteran opposition leader Raila Odinga, is set to appear tonight on Citizen TV in her first televised interview since her father’s demise.

The interview, to be conducted by senior journalist Yvonne Okwara, is expected to touch on personal, party, and national issues at a time of transition within the opposition.

In a promotional statement shared on social media, Citizen TV said Winnie will speak “on issues ranging from family to party, county to country and generation to generation,” signalling a wide-ranging conversation that blends personal reflection with politics.

A key focus is likely to be the future of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) following Raila Odinga’s death.

Winnie has in recent months been vocal about internal party dynamics, including concerns over decision-making and the place of younger leaders.

Her remarks could add to ongoing debate about unity, leadership renewal, and the direction ODM takes ahead of the 2027 General Election.

The interview is also expected to reflect on Raila Odinga’s political legacy and its meaning for Kenya’s opposition politics.

As one of his closest family members and a public figure in her own right, Winnie is likely to share personal insights while linking her father’s long political journey to broader questions about governance, reform, and democracy.

Attention will also be on her own political path. Currently an East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) MP, Winnie has previously downplayed immediate plans to seek elective office.

However, public interest in her future role remains high, and the interview may clarify how she sees her place in national and regional politics.

Finally, the conversation is expected to address youth engagement and generational change in Kenyan politics.

Winnie has often positioned herself as a voice for younger Kenyans, advocating for inclusion and relevance in political leadership.

The interview airs tonight on Citizen TV, with many viewers watching closely for signals about both ODM’s future and Winnie Odinga’s next steps.
