The Principal Secretary for Youth Affairs and Creative Economy, Fikirini Jacobs, on Thursday met with the NYOTA Project Assistants team at Bruce House, Nairobi, to assess the implementation progress of the NYOTA Project.
Speaking on social media, PS Jacobs highlighted that the Business Support Component, one of the Project’s four key pillars, has already been rolled out in 32 counties nationwide.
Meanwhile, the On-the-Job Experience (OJE) Component is set to induct its first cohort across seven counties, marking a significant step in providing practical work experience for Kenyan youth.
The PS also announced the schedule for the upcoming NYOTA business grants disbursement.
On Tuesday, 27th January, grants for youth entrepreneurs from Lamu, Kilifi, and Tana River counties will be handed out at Butwani, Malindi.
The following day, Wednesday, 28th January, beneficiaries from Kwale, Taita Taveta, and Mombasa counties will receive their grants at the Mombasa Showground.
Both events are expected to be presided over by H.E. President Dr. William Samoei Ruto.
PS Jacobs emphasized that the NYOTA Project continues to redefine and strengthen the youth empowerment ecosystem across Kenya, providing both financial support and practical opportunities to foster entrepreneurship and skills development.
“The NYOTA Project remains committed to equipping young Kenyans with the resources, experience, and guidance necessary to thrive in business and the creative economy,” the PS said, urging youth to take full advantage of the programs on offer.
Since its inception, the NYOTA Project has been instrumental in supporting youth-led businesses and creating pathways for employment, positioning young people as key drivers of Kenya’s economic growth.
The upcoming grant disbursements are expected to further expand the reach of the initiative, reinforcing the government’s commitment to youth empowerment nationwide.
