Maurice Ogeta, the longtime personal bodyguard to the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, has been appointed Advisor on Security Affairs in the Mombasa County Government, drawing praise from ODM officials.

ODM Communications Director Philip Etale took to social media to congratulate Ogeta, writing;

“Congratulations ndugu Maurice Ogeta on your new role in the County Government of Mombasa. Thank you my DPL Governor Abdulswamad Nassir for making the appointment.”

The position, created by the Mombasa County Public Service Board, aims to leverage Ogeta’s extensive experience in security.

Over the years, he has served high-profile leaders and gained knowledge across local, regional, and international security operations.

Governor Nassir also announced the appointment of Ken Ambani as Advisor on Creative Arts, a role intended to boost Mombasa’s cultural economy and empower local artists and youth.

Etale’s public congratulations underscore the respect and trust Ogeta commands within political circles, highlighting his transition from safeguarding national leaders to advising on county security matters.

The appointments are part of Governor Nassir’s broader strategy to strengthen Mombasa’s governance framework by placing skilled and experienced individuals in key positions
